Copenhagen, September 15, 2021 – Nordic Grafting Company A/S (NGC), producer of the superior Acti-Tech™ compatibilizer range, launches a new grade approved for food contact applications in packaging and recycling industries.

NGC thereby enlarges its portfolio of Acti-Tech compatibilizer with Acti-Tech compatibilizer 16MA11F, which is compliant with EU food regulation 10/2011. This functional polymer can be added to both PE- or PP-based formulations and tailored to the process equipment due its optimized melt flow.

Quentin Le Piouff, Market Development Manager for NGC, says: “with this latest addition, we are offering processers and recyclers an easy-to-add and universal compatibilizer for polymer blends used in diverse applications”. “It is also an ideal solution to upcycle mixed polymer feeds from PIR or PCR, enabling the use of these recycled plastic into existing products without lowering end-properties”, continues Kevin Barthomeuf, Chief Technology Officer for NGC. Such a food contact compliant compatibilizer is suitable for many industries besides food packaging and recycling. As Quentin points out: “we are still exploring the fit in new applications for our product range”.

Acti-Tech compatibilizer is based on Vistamaxx™ performance polymer from ExxonMobil. They are compatible with other polyolefins, featuring a high grafted monomer content, low VOC content, an MFI adjusted for optimal dispersion, and high flexibility. Acti-Tech compatibilizer is designed to enhance performance of a wide variety of polymer compounds and is particularly recommended for polyolefinic materials mixed with engineering plastics, such as PET or PA.

Acti-Tech compatibilizer range at fairs in 2021-2022

NGC will present its latest food contact approved grade at different fairs in 2021-2022. Through its mother company, Bjørn Thorsen A/S, NGC will be represented at Alihankinta fair on 21-23 September 2021, in Tampere, Finland, at booth E603 and at the upcoming Interplas fair in Birmingham, UK, on 28-30 September 2021, at booth C32.

Additionally, NGC product range will also be displayed at Compounding World Expo (CWE) fair on 29-30 September 2021 at booth A645, in Essen, Germany and FAKUMA on 12-16 October 2021 at Interpolimeri booth A4-4206, in Friedrichshafen, Germany.

NGC will also be present at Plastteknik Nordic, in Malmö, Sweden, on 1-2 December 2021, at booths E07 & E08. On 16-17 March 2022, NGC will be at the Finnish fair PlastExpo in Helsinki, Finland and on 5-8 April 2022, you can find NGC at the French fair France Innovation Plasturgie (FIP) in Lyon, France.

About NGC

Nordic Grafting Company (NGC) was founded almost five years ago as a wholly-owned affiliate of the Bjørn Thorsen group (BTG). The company is utilizing ExxonMobil’s patented Vistamaxx™ performance polymers technologies, under global license granted to BTG, to develop and directly commercialize superior compatibilizers. Acti-Tech compatibilizer products are used as performance boosters for recyclates, coupling agents for wood plastic composites and natural fiber compounds, or flexible adhesion promoters on metal and polar substrates to enhance performance of elastomers.

NGC recently expanded in the Asia-Pacific area, via Nordic Grafting & Compound Solutions (NGCS), a production and commercialization joint venture, set up in late 2019 together with its sister company, Customized Compound Solutions (CCS) and Chongqing Techxanadu Industrial Co.td. (TechXanadu).
